MFG: Multi-turn Feedback Guided Molecular Optimization

Source facts
MFG is a reinforcement-learning framework that trains an LLM to progressively optimize molecules using feedback from previous turns. It uses a feedback vector covering property improvement and similarity to the starting molecule, with a feedback-aligned reward. On ten multi-objective molecular-optimization tasks, the authors report an 81.50% similarity-constrained success rate for GeLLM³O-MFG versus 70.81% for the base model.
Analysis
The method treats molecular optimization as a sequential control problem instead of a collection of independent proposals. The central test is whether feedback-aware updating can improve multiple properties without drifting too far from the starting molecule.
Uncertainty/Doubt
- This is an arXiv preprint. The molecular tasks, reward design, and reported success-rate comparison were not independently reproduced here.
