BLADE: Auditing Information Use for Failure Attribution in LLM Multi-Agent Systems

Source facts
BLADE is a training-free framework for auditing how receiving agents use source information at selected dependency handoffs. It distinguishes error introduction, propagation, and repair and aggregates the results across an execution. Without reference answers, the authors report best or tied-best step accuracy among eight strategies on 1,228 failed runs across five dataset subsets.
Analysis
The framework distinguishes information provenance from faithful information use. That distinction is useful for multi-agent debugging, where a correct intermediate result can still be misapplied by a downstream role.
