AesCode: Aesthetic Code Generation with Decoupled Cross-Modal Rewards
Source

arxiv.org/abs/2610.18860v1
Source facts
AesCode generates editable visual artifacts as code while using a same-prompt image as aesthetic guidance. It represents the target as an attributable design graph and separates deterministic code/rendering checks from a VLM judge using a sample-specific visual graph rubric. The authors report visual-quality gains for AesCode-8B and AesCode-32B over same-scale Qwen3-VL baselines given the same references.
Analysis
The design graph gives visual quality an intermediate, inspectable representation rather than relying on an undifferentiated image score. Separating verifiable correctness from visual quality may help make code-generating systems easier to evaluate and improve.
Uncertainty/Doubt
- This is an arXiv preprint. The benchmark, VLM-judge calibration, and reported gains were not independently reproduced here.
