VISTA: A Visual Harness for Reasoning in an Interactive World
Source
arXiv
arxiv.org/abs/2610.02200v1
Source facts
The technical report introduces a visual harness that gives a multimodal model long-horizon visual context through direct perception, lossless visual memory, active retrieval, and input reorganization. The abstract reports that VISTA raises Claude Opus 5.0's Relative Human Action Efficiency on ARC-AGI-3 from 40.68 to 100.00 and completes all 25 public games using fewer actions than first-time human participants.
Analysis
VISTA treats visual memory and input organization as system-level capabilities. Its premise is that the same multimodal backbone can behave very differently when the harness preserves and retrieves visual history in a task-relevant way.
Uncertainty/Doubt
- This is an arXiv technical report with an earlier blogpost version. The benchmark gains and generality claims were not independently reproduced here.
